## Basic Maths Skills VideosGCSE Grade B (NC Level 8) Topics

Topic 1 - Changing Recurring decimals to fractions This video goes through 4 examples of changing recurring decimals to fractions. General Tutorial:-  maths247 Topic 2 - Repeated Percentage Change This video explains how to increase and decrease percentages using a multiplier, this allows you to do repeated percentage change very quickly. The practice link is to some standard percentage increase and decrease questions but try to do them with multipliers. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Percentage increase/decrease questions  Worked exam questions:-  RawMaths Topic 3 - Standard Form This video explains how to change numbers into and out of standard form and how to do calculations with and without a calculator. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Standard form practice  Worked exam questions:-  RawMaths Topic 4 - Factorising quadratic expressions This video goes through some basic examples of factorising quadratics by looking at the different combinations of signs in the expression. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Lots of factorising  Just Qu 2  General Tutorial:-  maths247  Hegartymaths - harder ones Topic 5 - Expanding two brackets This video goes through three different methods for expanding double brackets. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Questions 5-11  General Tutorial:-  maths247 Topic 6 - Changing the subject of a formula This video goes through four examples of changing the subject of a formula including squares, square roots and a simple verision of factorising. Worked exam questions:-  RawMaths  General Tutorial:-  maths247 Topic 7 - Evaluate algebraic formulae This video goes through three examples of putting numbers into formulas (substitution) with and without a calculator. The practice questions below are fairly basic but get harder. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Without a Calculator  Questions 3-9  Using a Calculator practice Topic 7b - Solving simultaneous equations This video goes through two examples of solving simultaneous equations using the elimination method, which is the standard one at this level. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Questions 7-10  Worked exam questions:-  RawMaths  General Tutorial:-  Hegarty  maths247-first 7 mins Topic 8 - Represent Inequalities graphically This video explains three examples of inequalities drawn on a graph. Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   More general but useful  Worked exam questions:-  to follow at some point soon :) General Tutorial:-  RawMaths Topic 9 - Identifying types of graphs This video goes through the main types of graph shapes and their associated equations. MyMaths revision :-   Transforming Graphs - Lesson    Transforming Graphs - worksheet Topic 10 - Transformations of graphs This video goes through all the transformations of graphs you only need the ones were you Add/Subtract and Multiply/Divide. General Tutorial:-  maths247 Topic 11 - Similar shapes length, area and volume In this video Hegarty explains what we mean by the word similar in mathematics, it also goes through how to change from a length to area to volume scale factor and does a few nice examples. Check out the Maths247 video which is very similar (no pun intended) Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Similar shapes (lengths)  Len,area and vol scale factors  Worked exam questions:-  RawMaths-1  2  3  4  HegartMaths  Maths247-1  2  General Tutorial:-  maths247 - Similar Triangles  Length,Area,Vol scale factors Topic 12 - Trigonometric ratios in right-angled triangles This video recaps the method used to find the missing angle in a right angled triangle when you are given two side lengths. There is an example for each of the three trig ratios sin, cos and tan. It also works through three examples of finding lengths when given an angle and a side on for each of sin, cos and tan. This is not a standard topic at GCSE Maths any more so I havent got around to sorting out my own video for it yet. Topic 14 - Median and IQR from Cumulative Frequency Graphs This video goes through how to plot and work out medians and IQR from Cumulative frequency grasphs as well as Box Plots (Box plots not tested in this topic though). Interactive Practice from CIMT :-   Cumulative Frequency  MyMaths revision :-   Cumulative Frequency - Lesson    Cumulative Frequency - worksheet Topic 15 - Comparing distributions This video is the same as the level 7 one not much difference in my opinion. Topic 16 - AND & OR rules for Probability No video as yet but there is a link to the OR rule on Mymaths.
